Kevin Pietersen informs BCCI of his interest in India batting coach post

Former England national cricket team player Kevin Pietersen has expressed his desire to take over the post of batting coach of the Indian national cricket team. He spoke about his social ambitions and reacted to reports that BCCI is looking for a new batting coach.

The Indian national cricket team has been under a lot of scrutiny due to their recent poor performance in Tests. The team has won just one game in the longest format in the past eight games, including a 3-0 whitewash in the home series against New Zealand.

The main reason for the team’s poor performance was the batting. The batsmen of the Indian national cricket team have been struggling to get going. There were also various instances of batting failures which turned the game against them on many occasions.

BCCI is exploring possibilities of adding new members to coaching staff

The batsmen of the Indian national cricket team, especially the senior batsmen, find it difficult to score runs in the home Test series. Even in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, they suffered the same fate as the team lost the series 3-1, losing the trophy after 10 years.

After a poor performance, the team’s coaching staff has come under a lot of scrutiny, especially those concerned with hitting. The coaching staff led by Gautam Gambhir has faced a lot of criticism and now there are reports of their sacking.

There were reports recently that the BCCI is exploring the possibility of adding a new member to the coaching staff, specifically a batting coach. According to Cricbuzz, it is understood that relevant discussions were also held at a review meeting in Mumbai.

Indian players were eliminated from the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in a similar manner. Virat Kohli, in particular, took the ball outside while some of the youngsters had to step back after hitting the ball without actually having to.

‘Available’ – Kevin Pietersen expresses desire to become India’s batting coach

Amid all the reports of BCCI looking for a new batting coach, Kevin Pietersen is looking to take over the role. Responding to the reports on Twitter, he wrote: “Available.”

Kevin Pietersen is one of England’s best batsmen in Test matches

There is no doubt that Kevin Pietersen is one of the best batsmen in the England national cricket team. In 104 Tests with 23 centuries for the team, he scored 8181 runs at an average of 47.28, which is the third highest in Tests for the Three Lions.

While his batting statistics speak for themselves, the former England cricketer doesn’t have any top-level coaching expertise. However, if he is appointed as batting coach, it will be a big step forward for Indian cricket.

At present, in addition to head coach Gautam Gambhir, the Indian coaching staff also includes Moeen Morkel (bowling coach), Abhishek Nayar (assistant coach), Ryan Ten Dushat (assistant coach) ), T. Dilip (fielding coach).
