A knife attack by a student at a school in eastern Slovakia left two people dead and one injured.
Local police initially said the suspect, an 18-year-old gymnasium student, was on the run and urged people not to approach him.
However, he was arrested soon after. “We would like to reassure the public that we are taking all necessary steps to make you feel safe,” police said.
They added that the teen’s victims were two classmates and a teacher.
Slovak media reported that the attack occurred at around 13:00 local time (12:00 GMT) in a town of 2,000 people near the Polish border.
Broadcaster TA3 said several emergency medical personnel were at the scene.
