Man City predicted lineup vs Ipswich

There were further signs of Manchester City’s ineptitude when they surrendered a two-goal lead at Brentford on Tuesday night.

Given what we’ve seen from Pep Guardiola’s side over the past few months, the Bees’ late show at Gtech hardly came as a huge surprise. This was not a result that would have deterred him Premier League A title charge, but one that saw them lose momentum in their quest for a top-four finish.

The Citizens are on the road again this weekend, and Guardiola could welcome some injured stars back into his matchday squad.

Here’s how city Can line up at Ipswich.

GK: Stefan Ortega – Ortega has usually been strong between the sticks but Wednesday night was not his best. Ederson may be considered again, but it looks like Pep will keep his faith in the German.

RB: Rico Lewis – After Kyle Walker was ruled out, Matthias Nunes has been used sporadically at right-back in recent weeks. However, there should be rotation on Sunday with the emerging Lewis returning to the squad.

CB: Manuel Akanji – The Swiss defender will certainly be considered on the right side of a City back Ruben Dias and John Stones. For now, Akanji will continue to be at the heart of the city’s defenses.

CB: Nathan AK Dias has returned to training and could return to the matchday squad on Sunday. However, the Portuguese defender will likely be saved for next week’s trip to Paris, allowing AK to start once more.

LB: Josko Guardiol Guardiola could relieve Guardiola by using Lewis at left-back and keeping Matthews Nunes in defence. The Croat is out of action this season, but the options are sub-optimal. Hello, Andrea Cambiasso?

CM: Ilkay Gundogan – The best of Ilkay Gundogan Neither Gundogan nor Mateo Kovacic could ease Rodri’s absence at the base of the midfield. Guardiola Struggling to stumble upon the best formula for keeping opponents at bay in transition.

RM: Bernardo Silva – The ol’ reliable is apparently not breathing, and only two City players have earned more Premier League minutes than Silva.

AM: James McAtee – Kevin De Bruyne has still got it, and will be rested ahead of the crucial clash with PSG. Thus, the door could be open for last weekend’s hat-trick hero McAtee to get a very rare Premier League start.

AM: Phil Foden – After a quiet first half of the 2024/25 season, Foden has exploded into life in recent weeks. Englishman Was on a double in West London on Wednesday.

Champions League: Jeremy Docu – Savinho has been excellent in his ‘natural’ side, but Guardiola has options. Doku or Jack Grealish could get a nod in East Anglia.

ST: Erling Haaland – Haaland helped City overturn their early deficit in the reverse fixture, and surely there was no better way Celebrate a bumper contract extension than getting back on the scoresheet at Portman Road.
