Man Utd legend Denis Law has died aged 84


Manchester United legend Denis Law has died aged 84, his family have announced.

Law, who has two statues dedicated to him at Old Trafford – one of which is the United Trinity statue which also features Sir Bobby Charlton and George Best – announced in December 2021 that he was suffering from dementia.

“It is with heavy hearts that we tell you that our father, Dennis Law, has sadly passed away. He fought an uphill battle, but finally, he is now at peace,” the family statement read. “We would like to thank everyone who has contributed to their well-being and care, in the past and more recently.

“We know how much people supported and loved him and that love was always appreciated and made a difference.”

Law spent 11 years at Old Trafford, scoring 237 goals in 404 appearances for the club and was capped 55 times by Scotland, scoring 30 goals.

He played a major role in United’s revival after the Munich air disaster in 1958, winning the old First Division twice, the European Cup and the FA Cup, and was awarded the prestigious award. Ballon d’Or trophy in 1964.

“Everybody Manchester United The king of Stratford End mourns the loss of Denis Law, who has died aged 84,” read a statement from the Red Devils. “He will always be celebrated as one of the club’s greatest and best-loved players.

“The ultimate goal scorer, his character, spirit and love of the game made him the hero of a generation. Our deepest condolences to Dennis’ family and many friends. His memory will live on forever.”

Law also played for United’s neighboring rivals, Manchester CityAs well as Huddersfield Town and Torino.
