Substitute Rachel Williams scored a hat-trick as United beat third-tier West Brom 7-0 to advance to the fifth round of the Women’s FA Cup.
Melvine Malard opened the scoring for the fourth-placed Women’s Super League side in the 23rd minute at Leigh Sports Village and it remained the only goal of the game until the floodgates opened after the break.
Williams replaced Mallard early in the game and then nodded twice from Anna Sandberg’s pass in the 77th and 79th minutes.
England international Ella Toone returned to action for the first time since being sidelined with a calf injury in November and added her name to the scoresheet with a curling shot over the crossbar for United’s fourth goal.
Celine Bizet added another in the 89th minute before Williams completed his hat-trick in the first minute of second-half stoppage time.
But Bizet – who might have hoped to take credit for the late kick that gave United his second goal of the game – failed to do so either, scoring twice in the fifth minute of stoppage time. Spend.
It was the only Women’s FA Cup match to go ahead after weather forced a postponement Durham’s Go to brightonwhile five games on Sunday were also canceled.
