Mohamed Salah claimed the honor of becoming the first player in Premier League history to reach double figures for both goals and assists before Christmas.
The Egyptian scored two goals and set up another pair Liverpool’s emphatic 6-3 win over Tottenham Hotspur On Sunday, his tally for the season reached 15 goals and 11 assists in just 16 games.
It’s an achievement never before recorded in England’s top flight, and while Salah admits it was never his aim to be the first, it’s another record he can take real pride in.
“I didn’t think about it before the game, but I’m glad I did,” Salah said. “It’s something that makes me proud, I’m going to keep working hard.”
The milestones keep coming for Salah, who has reached fourth place Liverpoolof all time top scorer charts.
With 229 goals to his name, Salah has climbed above Billy Liddell’s 228 and will now be eyeing a move into third place – currently held by Gordon Hodgson’s 241 goals.
“It’s fantastic to achieve it at such a big club but the most important thing is that we won the game,” Salah said. “Wherever I’m going to end my career, I’m happy with it.”
