More than 80% of stocks are gaining today

Donald Trump used stock market performance as a daily measure of his administration’s success during his first term. The strong range in the S&P 500 today can be seen by him as a first vote of confidence.

The index was rising in the afternoon, with 410 stocks posting intraday gains, meaning more than 8 out of 10 stocks were up.

This, in Wall Street parlance, is called having good breadth.
