Tamil Nadu wicketkeeper-batsman Narayan Jagadeesan hit 6 fours in a match in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy ) made history. He achieved the landmark feat during Tamil Nadu’s preliminary quarter-final match against Rajasthan at the Baroda Kotambi Stadium.
Jagadisan looked good with the bat when he opened the innings with Tushar Raheja. Khaleel Ahmed scored 10 runs off the first delivery and Raheja started the carnage. But the real damage was about to happen in the second round.
The first ball bowled by Aman Shekhawat was a wayward delivery that went wide by five balls. The bowler then bowled a short length outside off first and Jagadisan hammered it hard for four at slip. The second ball was guided well past point and four more balls were played.
On the next ball, Narayan Jagadeesan again bowled a short delivery for four as the fielder at third man had a bit of a miscue. The next ball was played in the air but Narayan Jagadeesan managed to hit it to another boundary.
Shekhawat changed course and hit the next ball to the body, but that didn’t change the outcome and Jagadisan struck him to mid-wicket for another four. The wicketkeeper-opener took the last ball through brilliant leg and hit four more balls to end the historic win.

Indian domestic cricket history
After hitting five balls first, Narayan Jagadeesan smashed six consecutive fours to create a landmark moment in Indian domestic cricket. This is the least of it. In Group A cricket, how many runs have been scored in one over without hitting a six.
It was a memorable match for Aman Shekhawat as he couldn’t find his lines and rhythm. Sure enough, he was not brought under the spell again. The game lasted 29 minutes. Tamil Nadu won 39-0 in the two overs.
Narayan Jagadeesan scored 65 runs in 52 balls with 10 fours. Six of those four played just one game. Aman Shekhawat’s unusual move did not faze Jagadeesan as he was fascinated by him in this round.
Varun Chakravarthy takes five wickets
Tamil Nadu, meanwhile, won the toss earlier and elected to field first. Opener Abhijeet Tomar scored a brilliant hundred against a strong bowling attack. Skipper Mahipal Lomror batted brilliantly, hitting a 49-ball 60 which included 3 fours and 4 sixes.
Wicketkeeper Kartik Sharma provided the final impetus to the innings as Rajasthan scored 267 and were bowled out in 47.3 overs. Mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy registered a brilliant five-wicket win (5-52 in 9 overs) for Tamil Nadu.
In response, the game has reached an interesting place where anything can happen. Rajasthan’s bowlers have made a strong comeback after a horrific start. They restricted Tamil Nadu’s strong batting order and made them work hard.
