Newcastle United No January signings have been made yet, and with just over a week to go before the window closes, time is running out. Eddie Howe.
The Magpies have finished in the top four in the Premier League on the back of good recent results, but a new arrival or two could certainly help the cause.
There have been a number of names linked with a move to St James’ Park, particularly the defender. Ousmane Diomande from Sporting CP is a player Howe is keen to sign but his fee this month is too much.
This could see the manager look elsewhere for a new centre-back…
Newcastle looking for centre-back
According to journalist Graeme Bailey Offered Newcastle Defender Eric Garcia, currently at Barcelona, also played in the Premier League for Manchester City.
According to Bailey, the 24-year-old has been scouted by the Magpies before and with them needing to add another center forward throughout the transfer window, could they perhaps be able to do a deal this month?
His contract at the Catalan side expires in 2026, meaning Howe will have to pay a decent fee to secure his signature before the window ends.
If so, will they get someone better than Diomande?
Why Newcastle should sign Eric Garcia
The Spaniard won the league title during his spell at Manchester City, but the centre-back really fell into his own identity while playing for Barcelona.
The 24-year-old has made nearly 100 appearances for the La Liga side and will almost certainly become an important player for Howe, no doubt.
