Newcastle United can claim a record-breaking tenth successive victory in all competitions when they host Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Magpies have been in exceptional form over the past month. They have one foot in the Carabao Cup final, have reached the fourth round of the FA Cup and are currently Champions League Qualification places in the league. Things couldn’t be rosier on Tyneside.
Bournemouth will prove a challenging obstacle to overcome and are unbeaten in ten matches themselves, but Eddie Howe has his side playing with supreme confidence all over the pitch and they will be significant favorites on Saturday.
Here’s how Newcastle Cherry can line up against.
GK: Martin Dubravka – There has been much speculation over Dubravka’s future in the Saudi interest but the Slovakian goalkeeper has proved crucial in the absence of regular first-choice Nick Pope.
RB: Tino Livramento – The former Chelsea youngster has displaced Kieran Trippier, taking his position as the club’s primary right-back. He will have to be vocal defensively against a tough Antoine Semenyo on Saturday.
CB: Fabian Scar – Suspension and illness have forced Sharr to sit out recent Premier League matches, although he featured in the FA Cup last weekend. The Swiss should be available against Bournemouth as Newcastle look for a sixth clean sheet in eight matches.
CB: Sven Boatman – The Dutch defender has been heroic since his return, quickly finding his mojo after a long injury. A weekend worth relaxing FA Cup victory over Bromley.
LB: Lewis Hall – The 20-year-old has been consistent in both halves this season, increasing his attacking output as Newcastle find their swagger in the final third.
CM: Bruno Guimaraes – Newcastle’s classy Brazilian rarely puts a foot wrong and will be expected to dominate the midfield battle against an injury-ravaged Bournemouth side.
Chief Minister: Sandro Tonali – Tonali’s return from his lengthy ban has been a game-changer for Newcastle, who have added another world-class midfielder to their engine room.
Chief Minister: Joelinton – Combative and unflappable, you know exactly what to expect from Joelinton. The Brazilian offers unmatched energy and muscle in the middle of the park, proving the perfect foil for the silkier operators.
RW: Jacob Murphy – One goal and four assists in his last six matches speaks volumes. Murphy may never be the flashiest name on the team sheet, but he is consistent in his final third production and tireless work rate.
ST: Alexander Issac – Issac could score in a ninth successive Premier League match on SaturdayThat would take him close to Jamie Vardy’s 11-game scoring streak. He is arguably Europe’s most in-form forward.
LW: Anthony Gordon – Newcastle’s formidable Swede may be hogging the headlines, but Gordon has been equally remarkable in his impressive surge in form. The former Everton winger has now scored five in his last six outings and is enjoying a run of four games with a goal.
