Nicole Kidman cries on stage as she honors late mother with award at Palm Springs Film Festival

“I want to give… because I didn’t get to do that at the Venice Film Festival,” Kidman said through tears. “I got to Venice and she was gone.”

“My whole career has been for my mom and dad, and they’re not here right now,” Kidman said. “But I still want to keep working and contributing to the world because I love what I do. I love you all. I’m so grateful to have the privilege of being a part of the film community.

“I’m sorry I cried. I didn’t want to do that, but I feel my mom right now. This is for you, mom.”

Kidman also missed the premiere of “Baby Girl” at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 10.

On September 12, Kidman and her sister Antonia Kidman expressed their gratitude for the support they have received as they cope with their mother’s death.

The actress received critical acclaim for her performance in the erotic thriller Baby Girl, starring Antonio Banderas and Harris Dickinson. Kidman also received a nomination for Best Actress at the Golden Globes, which aired Sunday night.

Curtis will play Kidman’s sister in “Scarpetta,” and both actresses serve as executive producers on the project.

At the Oct. 23 premiere of Lioness, Kidman reflected on how she feels about her latest wave of career success.

“I wish my mom was here,” she told The Hollywood Reporter . “That’s one thing I will say. Work is all well and good, but I wish my mom was here.

“It’s hard,” she added. “It’s a tough road. I’m going to persevere.”
