Nvidia has released three new NIM microservices, or small independent services that are part of larger applications, to help businesses bring more control and safety to their AI agents.

One of these new NIM services focuses on content safety and works to prevent an AI agent from generating harmful or biased outputs. Another one works to keep conversations focused on approved topics only, while a third new service helps prevent an AI agent from jailbreak attempts, or remove software restrictions.

These three new NIM microservices are part of Nvidia NeMo GuardrailsNvidia’s current open source collection of software tools and microservices is intended to help companies develop their AI applications.

“By applying many light, specialized models as guardrails, developers can cover the gaps that may occur if there are more general policies and protections in the world – because a one-size-fits-all approach will not properly secure and control complex agent AI workflows,” the press release said.

It appears that AI companies may be starting to catch on that getting businesses to adopt their AI agent technology isn’t as easy as they first thought. While people like Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff recently foretold with more than a billion agents running from Salesforce alone in the next 12 months, the reality is likely to look a lot different.

A recent study from Deloitte foretold that about 25% of businesses already use AI agents or expect to by 2025. The report also predicts that by 2027 about half of businesses will use agents. This shows that although businesses are clearly interested in AI agents, they are not adopting AI tech at the same cadence as innovation is happening in the AI ​​space.

Nvidia probably hopes that initiatives like this will make the adoption of AI agents seem safer, and less experimental. Time will tell if that is true.
