In an interview with Christianity Today, Pence said he would “welcome” the opportunity to speak with Trump.

“As he walked down the aisle, he said hello to me. I stood up, extended my hand. He shook my hand. I said, ‘Congratulations, Mr. President,’ and he said, ‘Thanks, Mike,'” Pence said.

Pence also recalled his last conversation with Trump in 2021, when he told Trump he would continue to pray for him. Trump responded, “Don’t bother,” the outlet reported.

“I said, ‘You know, there’s probably two things we’ll never agree on. … We’ll probably never agree on my responsibilities under the Constitution. January 6.’ And I said, ‘I’ll never stop praying for you,’” Pence told Christianity Today. “He said, ‘Yeah, Mike, don’t ever change. ‘”

He said he kept his word.

While the two still seemed cordial at Carter’s funeral, Pence told the media he didn’t think Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is the right person to run the Department of Health and Human Services and has concerns about former U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard serving as director of national intelligence.

Fox News Digital reached out to Advancing American Freedom, the public policy advocacy group founded by Trump and Pence, for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
