PhonePe has introduced insurance coverage, in partnership with ICICI Lombard General Insurance, for travelers attending the Maha Kumbh Mela, which will be held in Uttar Pradesh, India from January 13 to February 26, 2025.
The payments company has described the coverage as a “first of its kind”.
The Maha Kumbh Mela is an important spiritual event that attracts millions of devotees from all over the world.
The insurance plan is designed to provide financial security to meet the needs of travelers.
This coverage comes in two options: Rs 59 for rail or bus travelers and Rs 99 for those flying into the country.
Coverage includes hospitalization, doctor’s appointments, outpatient treatment, personal accident coverage and loss of checked baggage.
It also offers trip cancellation cover, missed connecting flight cover and repatriation of remains.
The plan is available for users on the PhonePe platform till February 25, 2025.

In December 2024, PhonePe launched a new Dengue and Malaria insurance plan. Starting at Rs 59 per annum, this plan offers up to Rs 100,000 cover for medical expenses arising from vector-borne and air-borne diseases.
