West Ham United fought back to earn a well-deserved 1-1 draw with Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.
A perfect start for Villa saw the hosts ahead after eight minutes. A smart one-two with Ollie Watkins sent Jacob Ramsey charging through on goal and the midfielder made no mistake with a simple strike into the bottom corner. Morgan Rogers was rejected for the side almost immediately.
West Ham should have equalized in a flurry of chances early in the second half, but they put things right with 70 minutes on the clock as Emerson headed home a cross from Edson Alvarez at the back post.
Of the two sides, it was West Ham who were likely to go ahead and win, but a tired Villa outfit managed to hang on for a share of the spoils.
