The report said that an AI model from Microsoft was used as part of Israel’s military plan to select bombing targets in Gaza.
Pro-Palestinian protests from Microsoft employees interrupted the company’s 50th anniversary celebration, the latest opposition from the technology industry to provide artificial intelligence technology to the Israeli military.
The protests began Friday, with Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman presenting a product update and long-term vision for the company’s AI assistant product Copilot to include Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and former CEO Steve Ballmer.
“Mustafa, I’m ashamed of you,” said Suleyman, a Microsoft employee, who walked towards the stage.
“You claim you care about the benefits of using AI, but Microsoft sells AI weapons to the Israeli military. Fifty thousand people died Microsoft has provided the impetus for this genocide in our region. ”
Suleiman said, “Thank you for your protest, I hear you.”
Aboussad continued, Suleiman and “Microsoft Everyone” were covered in blood. Before being accompanied to quit the event, she also threw out a keffiyeh scarf, which has become a symbol of support for the Palestinian people.

An Associated Press investigation revealed earlier this year that AI models from Microsoft and OpenAI were used as part of Israel’s military plan to select bombing targets in its wars in Gaza and Lebanon.
Microsoft employee Vaniya Agrawal was a second protester, interrupting another part of the celebration, during which Gates, Ballmer and current CEO Satya Nadella took the stage, the first public gathering for Microsoft CEOs since 2014.
In February, five Microsoft employees protesting the contract with Nadella were deported.
While the February event was an internal meeting, Friday’s protests were more public, a live showcase of the company’s past and future. Some employees also gathered outside the event on Friday.
“We offer many avenues for all sounds,” a statement from the company said.
“It is important that we require that this will not cause business disruption. If this happens, we require participants to relocate. We are committed to ensuring that our business practices maintain the highest standards.”
Various other companies and educational institutions are also facing protests in relations with Israel, as the humanitarian crisis in Gaza in the Israeli military attacks has continued.
Gaza’s Ministry of Health said at least 50,609 Palestinians were killed and 115,063 were injured in the Israeli war against Gaza. The government media office in the enclave updated its death to more than 61,700, saying there were thousands of people under the rubble that were supposed to die.
Israeli officials said the latest bloodshed in the Israel-Palestinian conflict over decades began in October 2023 and captured more than 200 people were captured, after the Palestinian group attacked Israel, killing at least 1,139 people.
