Rob Gronkowski seems to be interested in new england patriots Jerod Mayo, in his first season as head coach, was fired after Sunday’s win over the Buffalo Bills.

The Patriots struggled in Mayo’s first season, finishing with a 4-13 record. But Gronkowski said he doesn’t think Mayo will have enough time to develop as a head coach.

“I was shocked by it. What happened very quickly shocked a lot of people,” he said on Fox News. “Especially around the desk, I think we were all surprised by that. I thought it was unfair to coach Jerrold Mayo. He never had an opportunity to develop as a head coach.

“He’s just a rookie in that department himself. If you judge a coach by his first year, that’s really inappropriate.”

Mayo and Gronkowski were teammates with the Patriots for several years.

“After the game I informed Jarrod Mayo that he would not be returning as the head coach of the New England Patriots in 2025. For me personally, this was one of the hardest decisions I have ever made,” Clough Te said in a statement. “Unfortunately, the trajectory of our team’s performance throughout the season hasn’t gone up as much as I would have liked.”
