The cricketing world has seen some recent moves by the BCCI, issuing a 10-point directive asking players to streamline everything they do on and off the field; from cricket to the involvement of their respective families during foreign tours. Since the 10-point mission was announced, the response has been overwhelming. However, the true nature of these new rules has not been revealed until now.
What are BCCI’s 10-point guidelines?
BCCI has introduced new guidelines aimed at enhancing team cohesion and discipline. Players must now play domestic cricket to remain eligible for selection for the national team, with exceptions being made only in exceptional circumstances. The board also emphasizes that team travel will not be allowed and no individual arrangements will be allowed unless approved by the head coach and selection committee chair. Personal staff (including hairdressers or nannies) are not allowed to participate in the tour without BCCI authorization. Players must remain with the team until the end of the series or tour to promote bonding and continuity. Violations will result in disciplinary action such as suspension or fines. The new family travel policy allows family members of players to participate in trips lasting more than 45 days, with BCCI bearing the cost of shared accommodation. Additionally, players must adhere to baggage restrictions, participate in full practice matches, avoid receiving personal endorsements during the tour, and prioritize BCCI activities.
