The biggest revelation from last week’s Samsung CES press conference may have been another press conference. The hardware giant closed the main event with a joke upcoming company show. The next Samsung Unpacked event is scheduled for January 22 at 10 am PT.
As with all recent Unpacked events, next week’s big show will be streamed by both directly via The Samsung siteas well as the company YouTube channel.
Samsung is so eager to get preorders going that pre-event reservations come with a $50 Samsung store credit. You can find all the fine print above that HERE.
An absolute slam dunk for the event is the Galaxy S25 line. Since breaking away from CES/MWC for its mobile announcements, the company has developed a twice-a-year cadence for flagship releases. We got the Galaxy S series in January/February, followed by the new foldables in the summer.
The line should include three key models: the S25, S25 +, and S25 Ultra, the latter product of the S line that eclipses the Galaxy Note as the largest, most premium device. As usual, the lead-up to the event was filled with leaks, translations, and cases. The latter gives us a general definition of the dimensions for the line, because it is built on the specs submitted by Samsung to the manufacturer.
The lion’s share of the rumors point to the S25 looking like its predecessor. The biggest change on the hardware front is the slimmer design. Rumors was published this week instruct Samsung to shave 1 to 2 millimeters from the device’s profile. Another almost certain rumor is the inclusion of Snapdragon 8 Elite chip unveiled by Qualcomm in Hawaii last October. (The usual caveat is that there is always a slight processor difference in international markets. Here in the United States, however, it’s a done deal.)
Galaxy AI, of course, will be central to Samsung’s vision not only to show itself as a leader in the category, but also to differentiate its offering from the Google Gemini features available on Android devices. Of course, the big AI announcement last year Circle to Searcha Google feature first launched on S24.
Other possible – but less certain – reveals include a successor to the warmly received Galaxy Ring wearable and a closer look at Project Moohanan augmented reality headset jointly developed with Google.
