
Transport Secretary Sean Duffy slammed Wednesday New York Governor Kathy Hochul and the Metropolitan Transportation Agency (MTA), accusing New York City subway of discount safety risks.
“@MTA and @Govkathyhochul continue to say that the New York subway is totally safe. At the same time, criminals continue to intimidate innocent New Yorkers,” Duffy wrote in an article on X. “We are working to make the commuter safe again.”

“The trend of violent crime, homelessness and threats to public safety are unacceptable,” Duffy wrote in the letter. “After years of crime policy, our department has stepped in to restore order.”
Fox News Digital has reported that the letter asked for copies of MTA’s data about fare escapes, worker attacks, customer attacks and police patrols.

“Commuters are tired of having to endanger their safety, go to work, go to school or travel around the city,” Duffy wrote in the letter. “We will continue to fight to ensure their federal taxes will move towards a crime-free commute.”
DOT, MTA and Hochul’s offices did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
