In a humorous critique of corporate work culture, Kunwar Raj, the founder of content creation company Superpen, has gone viral for a satirical LinkedIn post advertising a part-time chief of staff position with outrageous demands .
This post comes in the wake of L&T chairman SN Subrahmanyan’s controversial statements advocating for longer working hours, including a provocative comment asking, “How long can you look at your wife?”
In his post, Raj playfully proposed a staggering 90- to 110-hour workweek, echoing Subrahmanyan’s call for employees to significantly extend their working hours. “Hiring Site Alert! Part-Time Chief of Staff Wanted. Hours Required: 90-110 Hours/Week,” he wrote, setting a satirical tone that resonated with many.
Raj outlined several key responsibilities for the role, including:
1. Manage your overflowing email and LinkedIn inbox.
2. Ghostwrite your LinkedIn posts.
3. Writing code for Superpen.
4. Design of prototypes and wireframes for new products.
5. Achieve monthly sales targets of 1 million rupees.
6. Close a $3 million seed funding round at a $15 million valuation.
The requirements were equally unheard of, with demanding candidates having an MBA from a top university, not getting married to avoid distractions and having previous experience at L&T or Infosys.
Raj humorously noted that “compensation” would be “according to the low level of the industry” and encouraged readers to comment that “slavery must be abolished” to increase the publication’s visibility.
The post quickly gained attention, with many social media users joining in on the humor. One LinkedIn user sarcastically responded to the post, writing, “Excited to announce that I’m applying for this amazing part-time opportunity as General Manager of Everything! Why I’m perfect for this role: A. Qualifications key. I have more than 25 years of experience condensed into my 30 years of life.”
She then explains why she’s the perfect candidate for the role.
Another user commented: “Whatever, at least there’s compensation because there was another recruitment site for a head of staff but they wanted free labor and insisted we put cash into charity. I’m more than interested in this part-time role.”
The controversy of the 90-hour work week
Earlier, SN Subrahmanyan’s comments had sparked a major backlash, prompting responses from notable industrialists like Anand Mahindra and Harsh Goenka, while the internet erupted with memes and jokes.
