Well, Shreyas Iyer dismissed the ongoing discussions about his weakness in short-range deliveries and said he cannot take advice from someone who has never faced 150 kmph lightning. He also called the small talk irritating.

The Indian Express quoted Shreyas Iyer as saying: “It’s irritating, especially when it comes from people who haven’t experienced 150 kmph delivery, suggesting you play in a particular way. He had two centuries and three fifties, but his favorite was his brilliant 82-run performance against Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium. Ayer said it was a “game-changing” hit for him.

Talking about his favorite innings of the 2023 ODI World Cup, the India batsman explained: “The 82nd innings against Sri Lanka. Even though I scored 50 runs against Pakistan, some comments put me in a quandary.”

He continued: “That conversation fueled my gut from within. I just wanted to give my 110 percent. In that game, I decided to rely on my gut and give it my all. There was no looking back. I was there in that game. I was so impressed with the performance. I’ve been a fan ever since, especially in the World Cup.”

Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer also shared his approach to dealing with different situations. He emphasized the need to adapt to the situation and conditions. The Mumbai batsman further explained how variable bounce on certain pitches requires adjustments to posture and trigger action rather than grip strength.

Furthermore, Iyer revealed that he practices these adjustments both on the court and in shadow sessions in the room. The India middle-order batsman also added that he always focuses on preparing specific plans for different types of wickets to ensure that he has a clear mindset before batting.

Still, Ayer said every plan may not always work, but he always goes into the field with a clear strategy. He will play for the Blue Jackets against England in the upcoming ODI series next month.
