Now that the first season, but hopefully not the last season, of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is in the bookstime to talk spoilers. Creators and showrunners Jon Watts and Christopher Ford recently sat down to do just that and answered everything you wanted: Jod’s past, In the future of Attinwhether or not their show will return for season two, and more.

Their answers dive into major spoilers for the show, so if you haven’t already, now’s your last chance.

In their full interview with Entertainment Weekly, which you can and should read hereWatts and Ford discussed Jod’s character arc, his backstory, plot lines they didn’t explore, the closing credits, and season two potential. One of the highlights is their discussion of the last look Jod gives looking out the window at At Attin, and what it means to him.

“I’ve watched this episode 10,000 times in editing and every stage of post-production, but watching it last night with my family, that’s the part that really made me feel something that wasn’t there. I can still feel it for some reason,” said Ford. “He is now alone and thinking his thoughts, knocking. That hit me in a way it hadn’t before.”

“It’s one of those shows where it’s open and you really see yourself showing yourself in his expression,” Watts added. “I’m trolling Reddit while you’re watching with your family. Different people are reading different things. Some people are like, ‘Oh, he’s glad to finally have to drop this trick.’ Or it’s like, ‘No, he’s sorry because he’s watching this perfect family scene and he’s alone.’ People see different types.”

One piece of variety that we have yet to see is the Jedi Jod trained. However, the showrunners admitted that they left it vague so that it could be addressed in the future.

“In our heads, it’s like the potential is deeper,” Ford said. “That part of the story is something that can be explored in the future. So when you have something that’s kind of a work in progress like that, you leave it open enough to work on and get better.

“Yeah, not at this time,” Watts added. “But what is beautiful Star Wars so you start talking about someone’s backstory and there’s already history and allure surrounding it. So you start to get excited about, ‘Oh, well, where would you put this person if it was X number of years ago into this larger galactic timeline?’ It’s such a rich world that you can have so many different and different characters and backstories, and it’s like limitless potential. It was a lot of fun.”

In the second season, this is what they are thinking about but they have not been given an official go-ahead yet. “We have ideas in our heads for sure,” Watts said. “We’re waiting to find out what other people think, but we always have an idea of ​​where it’s going to go even before we do the first season. So there’s a lot of potential there and hopefully everyone can see that.

And, if that happens, that all the children will probably be very old doesn’t matter. Their ideas don’t start the day after the season one finale. “We’re not going to pretend the kids are older than six months if we’re going to do more,” Watts said. “It’s fun to think about them growing up and where they fit into the galaxy and how the events of season one changed their world.”

“And interconnected wise, how the events of other shows affect Attin,” Ford added. “It doesn’t have to be a cameo, because if there are historical events that happen in the galaxy, it affects everything.”

“Yes, their isolated planet is now officially part of a larger galaxy. So what are the consequences of that?” Watts asked. It looks like they already know their season two storyline—if there’s going to be a season two.
