According to reports, a ski lift collapsed in northern Spain, injuring at least 30 people, 17 of whom were seriously injured.
The Aston Resort in the Spanish Pyrenees, where the incident took place, has been closed and rescuers are at the scene.
Images and videos circulating on social media appeared to show a number of people lying in the snow below the ski lift.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said he was “shocked” by news of the incident.
Ambulances and helicopters have been taking the injured to nearby hospitals.
A Spanish public broadcaster reported that dozens of people were still hanging on the 15-meter-high cable car waiting for rescue.
One witness told local media it looked like cables came off, chairs bounced up and people were thrown from the elevator.
The cause of the cable failure is unclear.
Pictures on social media showed one of the cable car’s flywheels detached from its spokes.
Video released by Spain’s Civil Guard showed a helicopter flying over the scene before landing to disembark emergency workers.
