Stephen Curry scores 52, Warriors beat Grizzlies | Basketball News


The four-time NBA champions hit 12 three-pointers in the victory as Golden State outperformed Memphis in the Western Conference standings.

Stephen Curry scored 52 points, Jimmy Butler beat the visiting Golden State Warriors 134-125 with the Memphis Grizzlies for a third victory and ranked 12th in the last 15 games.

Curry scored 16 shots in 31 on Tuesday, including 12 of 20 out of the 3-point arc and contributed 10 rebounds, eight assists and five steals.

The 37-year-old posted his second 50-point game in the second game of the season, and in the process made it to No. 25 in the NBA’s all-time scoring list. Curry finished the night with two free throws midway through the third quarter, beating Jerry West (25,192).

Draymond Green scored 13 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists for the Warriors, and they scored 28 points on 28 free throws.

Ja Morant led the Grizzlies with 36 points and 6 assists. Jaren Jackson JR scored 22, Desmond Bane scored 19, and Santi Aldama 18. Rookie Big Man Zach Edey scored a career-high 16 boards with 10 points and 4 blocks.

The Warriors (44-31) also passed Memphis (44-32) and entered fifth place in the Western Conference. The Grizzlies lost for the seventh time in eight games, including a row of defeats to the Los Angeles Lakers, the Boston Celtics and the Warriors.

Golden State has improved to 19-5 since Butler traded with the Miami Heat. Memphis has fallen to 8-14 since the All-Star break.

After Jackson’s float in the lane, the Grizzlies had 3:38 left in the fourth quarter, but the Warriors regained the lead by 123-122, with Butler’s two free throws left. In the last 2:30 minutes, Golden State made 8 free throws.

Curry scored 32 points at the end of the 16-shot half, including a 10-10 arc, giving the Warriors a 74-66 advantage at the break.
