Tilak Varma starred with the bat as India won the second T20I against England at the Ma Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Saturday (January 25) thriller.
Batting first, England posted a competitive total of 165/9 in the allotted 20 overs. The visitors were 5 at 90 pace at one stage before being rescued by lower order players. The likes of Brydon Carse (31) and Jamie Smith (22) knocked on the end, pushing their side to a total of over 150.
Captain Jos Buttler once again got his side on top scoring 30 balls with the help of 2 fours and 3 sixes. For India, Varun Chakravarthy and Axar Patel picked up 2 wickets each.
In response, India got off to a shaky start. Abhishek Sharma was the batting hero in the first T20I, hitting three fours off Jofra Archer in the first match but was beaten in the second Jofra Archer. India also lost the wickets of Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav in the powerplay game.

India soon found themselves at 78 for 5 as Hardik Pandya and Dhruv Jurel also failed to fire.
He and Washington Sundar revived India’s chances by adding 38 runs for the sixth wicket. Sundar left the stand at the age of 26. Axar Patel also failed to impress with the bat, but Tilak Varma was not affected.
In the end, the equation took 6 runs from the last over and Tilak Varma had only 2 deliveries to get the winning run. Captain Suryakumar Yadav made a heartwarming gesture for the young batsman after his win.
When Tilak Varma walked out of the ground, Suryakumar Yadav bowed before him and the young batsman made sure to reciprocate with a similar gesture. The two teammates then shook hands and hugged each other in a heartwarming moment.

With the win, India took a 2-0 lead in the five-match series. The men in blue now need to win one of the three remaining games to win the series. The third T20I of the series is scheduled to be played in Rajkot on Tuesday (January 28).
