Tesla is taking the EU to court over tariffs imposed on imports of electric vehicles from China.
The European Court of Justice published the case on its website on Monday morning. The US company followed Germany’s BMW and several Chinese carmakers in filing the claim.
The EU imposed subsidy tariffs of “subsidy of 7.8 percent of Tesla and up to 35.3 percent at other companies in October. That’s in addition to a 10 percent basic import tariff.
This is the latest confrontation between Eu and Teslaire’s billionaire owner Elon Musk, an adviser to US President Donald Trump. Musk has been an outspoken critic of EU technology regulation and has backed far and wide in Germany’s election campaign.
The European Commission said it would defend the claims.
