The consumption was on his way to Canada on Sunday after he had been released by ice that had captured him in the frozen Lake Erie for days, the US coastal guard said.
Manitoulin, a Canadian 663 meter (202 meter) vessel with 17 people on board, was stuck on Wednesday in an ice on Lake Eriie, after dropping a beef of wheat in Buffalo, New York, and headed back to Canada, said the coastal guard. It was released on Saturday.
The ship is not damaged and the crew is safe, the officials said. Roads in large lakes often meet on surface ice in winter, but sometimes run into an ice that is too hard or thick to break through.

The crab of an ice ship of the US Coast Guard worked from Thursday to help Manitoulina, and on Saturday the officials said that another ship had arrived to help release a cargo ship. The Canadian Coast Guard also had a ship that assisted in the effort.
The consumption is accompanied by almost 20 miles (32 kilometers) of ice from Buffalo until he reached free water, said Lieutenant Kyle Rivera from the Coast Guard.
The consumption must travel the rest of Lake Erie, and then head to the Detroit and St. Clair in Canada, where he will spend the rest of the winter, Rivera said on Sunday Associated Press.
“There is ice through other parts of the lake and river, but we have another cutter to spend it there,” he said.
The American Coast Guard helicopter was at the scene that performed flights to oversee the situation. The third coastal guard ship was supposed to arrive on Monday, in case Manitoulin remained stuck.
