The Palestinian Statistics Agency’s new report says more than 39,000 children have lost one or two parents in Gaza.

Thousands of Palestinian children have lost their parents since the beginning of the Israel War Gaza StripThe Central Bureau of Statistics of the Palestinian Central said.

534 days after the Israeli attack, the agency said in a statement Thursday that 39,384 children in Gaza lost one or two parents, which attacked the small enclave and was displaced among its 2.3 million strong people.

About 17,000 of these children have been deprived of their parents since October 2023, the agency said, and Israel initiated Genocide offensive.

“These children live in tragic conditions, with many forced to take refuge in tents or destroyed houses, with almost no social care and psychological support,” the bureau’s statement said. “The Gaza Strip is suffering from the biggest orphan crisis in modern history.”

According to the statement, at least 17,954 children were killed in the attacks in Gaza, including 274 newborn babies and 876 babies under one year of age.

It added: “In the tents that shelter displaced people, 17 children also freeze to death, and another 52 died of hunger and systemic malnutrition.”

The agency warns that 60,000 children are at risk of dying due to severe malnutrition and imminent famine.

Since its resumption of its offensive in Gaza A fragile ceasefire Israel brought weeks of breathing, has sealed important borders and banned access to much-needed humanitarian aid, including flour, fuel and medical supplies.

Even before the last ceasefire came into effect in January, which lasted about two months, Israeli forces closed the crossing points, keeping thousands of convoys carrying aid supplies out.

The Gaza government’s media office condemned the move, saying earlier this week the Israeli government was adopting a “system hunger” policy, forcing bakeries to close by by halting aid and flour entry throughout the month.

Children and minors under the age of 18 account for about 43% of the 5.5 million Palestinian population in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.

Israeli troops have killed more than 1,160 Palestinians in Gaza since the fatal battle resumed on March 18.

According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, at least 50,523 Palestinians have been killed since October 2023, most of whom are women and children.

The report said that since October 7, Israeli troops have detained more than 1,055 children, mainly in the West Bank, a “unprecedented” escalation of Palestinian children. There are still more than 350 people in Israeli prison facilities.
