Thomas Muller left Bayern Munich after 25 years after the Bundesliga Giants when it expires this summer.
The 35-year-old midfielder joined Bayern’s rankings in 2000 before making his debut in 2008, and will begin his career, which will allow him to last 17 years at the club and make 743 appearances and score 247 goals.
Mueller also won 33 honors at Bayern, including 12 Bundesliga titles, the most single player in Germany’s top matches and two Champions Leagues.
Muller, who won the World Cup in Germany in 2014, has expired this summer after his deal at the Childhood Club will be extended by one year in December 2023.
Mueller has played Bayern’s role to a large extent since signing the new deal, but despite suggesting he wants to stay, the club said the two parties reached a “mutual assistance solution” that would end his quarter of his quarter of his time in Bavaria.
“Even over the years, no matter how many minutes I played, I still really enjoyed playing with the lads and working together for our team. I could easily imagine playing this role next year,” Mueller said in a letter to Bayern fans on social media.
“However, the club has made a conscious decision not to negotiate a new contract with me next season. Even if it doesn’t match my personal wishes, it’s important for the club to follow its beliefs. I respect this step and certainly it’s not easy for the board and the oversight committee to take it.”
Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dresen said in a club statement: “The most important thing is that we have found a common solution. Thomas Müller is one of the greatest players the club has produced, so it is important for us to find a fair and friendly agreement.
“Now, we want to work together to ensure that this incredible career is full of hope for three more trophys. For decades, fans still have few fans revelry. Thomas Müller will be one of them.”
Mueller also thanked fans for help at the “Incredible Journey” rally that they received at the end of the season.
Bayern is far from defending champion Bayer Leverkusen’s nine-pointer, while head coach Vincent Kompany brings the club closer to the 34th domestic champion.
