The New York Times reported on Thursday that Trump had revoked protection for former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director Pompeo.
Trump’s order, which took effect at 11pm ET on Wednesday (04:00 GMT on Thursday), removed the security details of Pompeo and former top aide Hook, according to people familiar with the matter.
It was previously reported that Trump did the same thing to his former national security adviser Bolton. Bolton confirmed the news to CNN on Tuesday, issuing a statement: “I’m disappointed but not surprised.”
Trump has since defended the decision, calling Bolton a “very stupid person.”
