U.S. President Donald Trump extended Tiktok a 75-day extension to comply with a law that requires very popular video apps to sell their U.S. assets or face a ban on the country.
“We don’t want Tiktok to ‘black’. We look forward to working with Tiktok and China to complete the deal,” the president wrote on Truth Social on Friday. The platform is currently part of the Chinese company.
Trump’s first extension took effect in January and is scheduled to expire on Saturday.
In the U.S., the social media platform was used 170 million times in the U.S., and before Trump took office, the app was ready to close the app in the U.S. due to laws passed by Congress.
The extension is as the Trump administration completes a plan to make popular applications run in the United States.
“This deal requires more work to ensure that all the necessary approvals are signed,” Trump wrote.
The president said his administration is in touch with four separate groups interested in the potential Tiktok deal, although he has not named it yet.
