Two prominent judges were killed in front of Iran’s Supreme Court


An unidentified gunman killed two high-profile judges outside Iran’s Supreme Court on Saturday in what authorities are calling a terrorist attack, according to state media.

The attacker opened fire in a square near the headquarters of the Supreme Court in the capital, Tehran The news agency of the Islamic Republic reported.

The judges, Ali Razini and Mohammad Moqiseh, had long careers and presided over cases involving national security, espionage and terrorism, according to a statement from the judiciary carried by state media.

Both were heads of branches of the Supreme Court. A third referee was also wounded in the attack.

The Iranian judiciary described the episode as a terrorist attack and the shooting as targeted killings, according to Mizananother state newspaper

The attacker killed himself before the police could arrest him, reports Mizan. The police opened an investigation.
