Google and Apple have a bad day. Technology giants face a new investigation of their mobile ecosystems from the Competition and Market Authority (CMA) in the UK and increasing pressure to adopt a new app store initiative in India.
Let’s start checking, coming a day after CMA named A Former Executive on Amazon as an interim chair. CMA checks when Apple’s mobile ecosystems must have a strategic market status (SMS) and can be subjected to more regulations and pro-competition directives. However, they do not fully clear which aspects are checked. This new name comes from Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers (DMCC) Act in the UKbeginning on January 1. These apps are currently on Apple and Google’s App Stores, but as blind entities.
The first request was reported to arrive at a meeting last month but, as it stands, Google and Apple may not say yes. The Indian government is reported to mention the use of orders or making legal measures to force obedience. In 2021, Apple began offering an equal choice for Russian users due to regulations.
