Ukraine sends a salva of drones to Russia, shooting oil refineries

Ukraine on Friday fired a great firing of explosive drones on Russia, according to Ukrainian officials and the Russian armyIn a bargain fire that lit up oil refinery and a pumping station and briefly closed multiple airports, including several serving Moscow.

The attack was the latest and one of the largest in the Ukrainian campaign for the disturbance of Russian military logistics and putting pressure on the Earth’s economy by hitting the oil industry, which is the main source of Moscow’s income.

The Ukrainian fleet of drones, which resemble a small aircraft and have a range of about 1000 miles, attacked Russian refineries and factories at least 17 times this year and dozens of times 2024. Ukraine amplified drones production over the last year and now routinely firing large bursts.

The posts of the Russians on social networks show fiery balls that erupted on Friday early over the large refinery in Ryazan, a city of about 180 miles southeast of Moscow.

The headquarters of the Ukrainian Army General Staff announced a statement saying that military and intelligence agencies coordinated the drone attack and hit the oil refinery and pumping oil station in Ryazan, causing fires. In the nearby Bryansk region, according to a statement, the Ukrainian drones hit the electric component factory that produces chips for fighter jets and missiles, including two models of Russian intercontinental ballistic missiles, Topol-M and Bulava.

All in all, the Russian Defense Ministry claims that the 121 Ukrainian unmanned aircraft in 11 Russian regions plus Crimea and Moscow on Thursday to Friday.

Particularly oil refineries were a common target of Ukraine. In the last two decades, Russia has invested great funds in the refinery, with the aim of adding a value to its oil industry by exporting gasoline, diesel and fuel for aircraft with raw oil. Many refineries are in the Domet of Ukrainian drones. And since the places themselves are flammable, small warheads can cause hell.

The attacks complement western sanctions that have cut Russian oil revenue, although the sale remained strong enough to strengthen the economy and finance war efforts. President Trump used a video address to the Economic Forum in Davos on Thursday to emphasize the importance of reducing Russian revenue from oil ending.

“If the price fell, the Russian-Ukrajin war would stop immediately” he said, adding that they will ask Saudi Arabia and the organization of oil exporting countries to act to lower the prices of Russian oil.

The head of Ukraine Presidential Office Andriy Yermak also emphasized the importance of lowering oil prices. “A solid restriction on prices and a further reduction in the price of the Russian oil barrel is a path to global security,” he said on his telegram channel. “We fully support US President Donald Trump in his desire to reduce oil prices.”

The videos posted by the Russians on the Internet show the big fires up in Ryazan. Pavel Malkov’s head chief announced an air attack on the city but did not specify the goals. A military blogger called Rybar posted a list of other affected regions, referring to local officials.

In the publishing on the Internet, the inhabitants of the City of Rjazan, which has about 500,000 inhabitants, wrote critically about local authorities and said that heating and electricity were discontinued. There were no direct reports on the victims.

In Moscow, Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said in a post on his telegram channel that Russian air forces had broken four unmanned spacecraft that went to the capital. Three Moscow airports and at least seven regional airports interrupted their work during the attack, according to the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency.

The Russian drones also attacked Ukraine on Thursday to Friday nights, killing three people in different locations near Kiev, said Mykola Kalashnyk, a acting leader of the Kiev Regional Government, in a statement. A 10 -story residential building suffered considerable damage.

In the early hours of the morning on Friday, the Ukrainian air force also reported an attempt to attack the unmanned aircraft in Central and Western Ukraine, including one aimed at the base of Ukrainian air forces in Starokontantinovo, in the region of Hmaznicki, which is a common target of Russian drones. No information on damage or victims at an air basis.

Andrew E. Kramer and Natalia Novosolova contributed to the reporting from Kiev, and Ivan Nechepurenko of Tbilisi in Georgia.
