Minnesota Vikings are Play Moneyball.
One of the biggest regular season games in history between the Vikings and rival Detroit Lions will be decided NFC North Champion and the top seed in Sunday’s conference.
The Vikings spent heavily in the game at Detroit’s Ford Field in an attempt to offset the Lions’ home-field advantage.
The Vikings spent $2 million on Sunday to buy about 1,900 tickets for seats behind the visitors’ sideline at Ford Field and are now reselling them to fans at a significant discount, Sports Illustrated reported.

The Vikings even sent an email to season ticket holders notifying them of the special offer.
The Lions reportedly contacted the league office to complain, but were told the Vikings did not violate any league rules.

The Vikings have been to the Super Bowl four times and lost all four times. Detroit has never been to a Super Bowl.
The winner of this game will have the clearest path to the Super Bowl in the NFC.
The Lions retained first place in the NFC North with a thrilling 31-29 victory in a game earlier this season in Minnesota. With the win, the Lions will tie the game with the Vikings on Sunday night for the top seed in the NFC.
The Vikings had not won a game against the Lions at Ford Field in the final week of the 2020 season since January 2021, winning 37-35 to move to 7-9 on the season. Minnesota finished the game 5-11.

The Lions have won each of their past four meetings with the Vikings and reached the NFC Championship Game last year. The Vikings were thought to be in a rebuilding phase, but the emergence of quarterback Sam Darnold sparked one of the most shocking stories of the NFL season.
Whichever team loses on Sunday will be relegated to the No. 1 wild-card team and must play a first-round playoff game on the road.
The winner will receive a first-round bye in the divisional round, home-field advantage, and a possible trip to the NFC Championship Game.
