India’s veteran batsman Virat Kohli hasn’t had the best of times as an international cricketer. The 36-year-old has struggled in recent games.
However, Kohli will aim to overcome his weaknesses and regain some form ahead of the Ranji Trophy match in Delhi. He practiced in the nets with former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar and even had lengthy conversations with him.

According to PTI, Virat Kohli claimed that Sanjay Bangar has regained some form. Bangar arranged a training session for Kohli at the Mumbai facility, which is believed to have been developed personally under his supervision.
Sanjay Bangar was India’s batting coach when Kohli was at the peak of his career. Bangar has also worked with Kohli in RCB team management before. The former India batting coach was seen accompanying Kohli with a couple of knocks of 16 yards.
The main focus is on developing a strong back-foot game that would allow Kohli to be comfortable playing the rising ball outside Stump. The training session also aims to create more wicket squares.

A removable cement slab is attached to the back of the length area, which may also be called the middle area, to feed him some back balls that rise sharply outside the stumps.
Kohli faced a lot of trouble during the recent Test tour of Australia, where the ball bounced off the pitch to good lengths. This resulted in his dismissal. time during the series.
Need to create more scoring opportunities
It is worth noting that Virat Kohli is naturally a front-foot player and does not rely too much on his back-foot game. But overseas conditions where the ball comes late require a batsman to come in late and use his back-foot game to perfection.
Over the years, Kohli has relied on his trademark cover drives, but this picture has led to his downfall in the past few months. The idea with the practice sessions is to make sure he keeps the scoring zone intact, even if he doesn’t get much of the ball.
Kohli has been scoring runs on the wicket with his traditional shots over the years. However, he aims to develop his back-foot game to further expand his scoring opportunities.
Virat Kohli’s recent Test sheet
Virat Kohli has had a poor Test series rate in Australia as he aggregated 190 runs in five Tests at an average of 23.75. He was often troubled by the ball outside off-stump and all his dismissals went in a similar fashion to his outside edge either going to the wicketkeeper or slipping into the field.
After playing in the upcoming Ranji Trophy, Kohli will play in the ODI series against England and then the Champions Trophy, where he will be key to India’s chances. The 36-year-old has a proven record in both ICC tournaments and ODI formats.
