Host of “Wheel of Fortune” Ryan Seacrest and Vanna White Helping out a contestant made the night a little special.
On Thursday night during the game show’s 50th anniversary celebration, Seacrest announced that they had helped Robin propose to Rhea Mathew, a former “Wheel of Fortune” contestant who competed in October 2023.
“We’re celebrating our 50th anniversary milestone, and that actually happened on set earlier this week,” Seacrest announced in a video uploaded to YouTube.
“Robin, former contestant Rhea’s boyfriend, reached out to us for help and asked her a big question,” Vanner added.

She explained that with the help of announcer Jim Thornton, they created “a little ruse to make Rhea think she was back to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Wheels.”

“But look what happened,” White added, before turning to Robin and Rhea’s offer.
In the video, Rhea addressed the question “Will you marry me?” puzzle.
“Good job,” Thornton told Rhea.
Robin walked on stage, got down on one knee and asked, “Rhea Susan Mathew, will you marry me?” The former contestant looked shocked and nodded in agreement.
“Rhea Susan Matthew, will you marry me?”
The video then cuts to White and Seacrest.
“I think she was really surprised,” Ryan said.

“Yeah, it’s just so heartwarming,” White said.
“It’s very sweet. I love that we can do that on this show,” Seacrest added.
“You never know what’s going to happen here,” White joked.

“Wheel of Fortune” The couple’s special moment was shared on their Instagram account.
“We screamed, cried, and lost our minds over this sweet wheel proposal!” it captioned the post.
Rhea commented under the post, “Ahhh thank you, thank you, thank you for making this happen!!! Even beyond my wildest dreams!!”

Rhea shared a picture from the proposal on her Instagram noting that her fiancé “put my jaw on the floor and did the sweetest, most thoughtful thing anyone has ever done for me.”

“I actually brought a very special person today. I brought my boyfriend Robin. He’s one of my biggest supporters. So, I’m really excited to share this magic with him,” Ray Ya told the game show’s social reporter Maggie.

Sajak’s video then showed behind-the-scenes footage of the proposal, with the caption: “Proposal scene?! 2025 is off to a magical start!”
