The historic home of the movie cowboy legend will rogers Wildfires raging in Los Angeles have destroyed structures at Topanga State Park, according to a news release from California State Parks.
Will Rogers State Historic Park (WRSHP), where Hollywood’s highest-paid actors lived in the 1930s, was destroyed in a Santa Monica house overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
Before and after photos taken by California State Parks show the extent of the damage to the ranch, where only the fireplaces remained.
“The state park is were able to evacuate the Will Rogers Small Hydropower Station horses as well as several cultural and historical artifacts, including artwork, prior to the fire,” the release said.

In Topanga State Park, the Topanga Ranch Motel and concession building were destroyed, the agency said.
A park employee’s home was also destroyed by the fire, the news release said. More than 30 structures were engulfed between the two state parks.
“California State Parks mourn a loss These are precious natural and cultural resources, and our hearts go out to everyone affected by the devastating fires in the Los Angeles area,” said State Parks Director Armando Quintero.

California State Parks staff are on site to rescue artifacts and assess the damage.
“Since (Tuesday) afternoon, we are putting all available resources into emergency response efforts and working to secure and protect the affected nearby state parks,” Quintero said. “We are grateful for the swift actions of park staff and all partner agencies Deeply grateful. Our priority remains the safety of the public, our employees and our brave rescue crews fighting the fire.”
As of Wednesday afternoon, six wildfires Los Angeles County is burning, including the Los Angeles communities of Pacific Palisades and Sylmar and another community near the city of Pasadena.
