The Australian batting line-up, who opted to bat first, faced a challenge early on with Phoebe Litchfield (15 for 15) and Alyssa Healy (15 for 28) failing miserably, followed by Ellis Perry (2 off 9) and Annabel Sutherland (10 off 16) left the home team in trouble at 59/4. However, Beth Mooney (50 off 64) steadied the innings with a crucial half-century and laid the foundation for the revival.
The turning point came when Ashleigh Gardner walked in. A stunning knock of 102 off 102 ballswhich featured eight fours and one six, provided Australia with an overwhelming total. Gardner was well supported by Tahlia McGrath, who hit 55 off 45 balls with eight boundaries, while Georgia Wareham A blast of 38 off 12 balls included 5 fours and 2 sixes.
England’s bowlers found it difficult to maintain control. Natalie Seaver and Charlotte Dean were the first choice in attack, taking two wickets each while conceding 51 and 53 runs respectively. Lauren Bell also suffered two scalp injuries but managed just 72 points in 10 overs.

Alana King’s fingers limit England
England’s chase got off to a disastrous start, losing Maia Bouchier in the second over. Tammy Beaumont (54 off 77) steadied the innings with a patient half-century but wickets fell at regular intervals. Heather Knight (14 off 20) and Danielle Wyatt (35 off 32) made brief contributions, while Natalie Sciver ) kept England’s hopes alive with 61 off 68 balls, hitting five fours.
Amy Jones scored 30 off 26 shots, but the lower order crumbled under the pressure. England lost their last 5 wickets for just 24 runs and were unable to cope with Australia’s disciplined bowling attack.
Alana King was the star with the ball as she took an impressive five-wicket haul with figures of 5/46 in 8.2 overs. Megan Schutt provided the early breakthrough, taking 3/57 in her nine over spell. Georgia Wareham supplemented the attack with figures of 2/27 in five overs, ensuring England never came close to the target. The visitor is Bundle 222 balls in 42.2 oversgiving the Australian team a well-deserved victory.
