England’s Mimi Rhodes won the second Women’s European Tour title at Joburg Ladies Open, which gave him back-to-back victory in his rookie season.
Rhodes entered the final round with three shots, starting second on the second day with South Africa’s Casandra Alexander and Ireland’s Lauren Walsh.
Rhodes made his final day at the Modderfontein Golf Club, named the three birdies and ended two rounds with a 71 shot, and scored 14 with a 14 win over Alexander.
Despite a little long time in the 18th race and almost seeing the playoffs in the car, Rhodes was able to stay cool and win.
“I’m still shocked to be honest, this hasn’t sunk in yet,” the 23-year-old said. “I’m really tall and lost my words.
“I’ve been working hard at this moment. I can’t thank anyone, family and friends for coming home, all my coaches are all around the world – I have a lot!”
She added: “I never thought it was, honestly, a dream come true and performed so well early in my career. I can’t wait for the whole season to keep going well.
“It was amazing to win and win for the second straight win in another country, and it gave me a lot of confidence in the rest of the season and my career.”
Rhodes’ latest success was won after his win at the Australian Ford Women’s NSW Open on his last outing in March.
Rhodes followed in Linn Grant’s footsteps, and the Swedes also won two wins in the bounce of the rookie year. In 2022, Grant claimed that Mithra Belgian’s Ladies Open and Volvo Car Scandinavians were mixed. She also won the Ms. Joburg Open the same year, which was her first start.
