The American tourist went on an inflatable ship for the North Sentinel away island in the Indian Ocean last week. He packed diet coke and coconut as an offer for a highly isolated tribe that lives there, and brought Gopro the camera in the hope that he would take a meeting, Indian police said.

He led to his GPS navigation, Man, Mykhailo Viktorovych Polyakov, 24, reached the northeast coast of the island at 10 am on March 29, police reported. He scanned the land of a doubt, but saw no one. So he climbed to the shore, left the diet of coca and coconut there, took sand samples and recorded a video, police said.

Mr. Polyakov was arrested on March 31 when he returned to Port Blair, the capital of the island of Andaman and Nicobar, the archipelago more than 800 miles east of the Indian mainland, the authorities said.

There were few outsiders on the island of Northern Sentinel, which is the territory of India and is illegal to visit. Indian government regulations forbid any outsider interaction with his isolated tribe, whose members of Lova with Luke and Arrow and killed intruders for stepping on their coast.

In 2018, American missionary, John Allen Chau, embarked on an island with the Bible. The tribes were shot by his arches and arrows when he got ashore and later said Indian authorities. Fishermen who helped take Mr. Chau to northern Sentinel told the police that they saw tribes pulling the body to the beach.

2006 killed two fishermen who accidentally descended to the shore.

But Mr. Polyakov was not distracted. He planned his journey “carefully”, police said, studying marine conditions, tide and accessibility from the Khurmader Beach, located on the island of Andaman.

Even after pushing himself from the island of Northern Sentinel, Mr. Polyakov tried to get the attention of Sentineles, blowing a whistle from his ship, police said.

He was accused of trying to “communicate with the Sentineles tribe,” the Andaman police said in a statement. Mr. Polyakov is held on a charges that include a violation of the law protecting the Aboriginal tribes, and should appear in court on April 17. Charges carry a possible sentence of up to five years in prison and fines.

“His actions represented a serious threat to the safety and well -being of the Sentinelean people, whose contact with foreigners was strictly forbidden by law to protect their indigenous way of life,” the statement said.

Police said that during the interrogation of Mr. Polyakov, he had discovered that he had attracted him to the island from “passion for adventure and the desire to take extreme challenges.” Officials added that his GoPro recordings suggested entry to the island and used GPS navigation during his trip.

“He was particularly fascinated by the mystics of the Sentinelene people,” the police said, adding that the authorities had pulled the footage from his GoPro camera.

A police statement states that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Embassy of the United States has been informed of arrest.

State Department spokesman said the department was “aware of the report on the detention of an American citizen in India” but had no further comment on privacy issue.

Members of Mr. Polyak’s family could not come.

Mr. Polyakov recorded his travel on YouTube channelwhich includes videos about what he described as “Afghanistan under the control of Taliban”, some of which include posing and cracking of weapons.

Police said the previous trips to the remote region made it. In October, the hotel staff stopped an attempt to go to the island of North Sentinel using an inflatable kayak, police said. In January, he arrived on the island of Baratang, in the archipelago and “illegally filmed” another tribe, Jarawa, police said.

Survival International, a group that protects the rights of indigenous tribal peoples around the world, said that the attempt to contact Mr. Polyak with the tribal people of the northern Sentinel “reckless and idiotic”.

“The works of this person not only threatened his own life, but brought the lives of the entire Sentinelese tribe,” the director of the Caroline Pearce group said in a statement. “It’s very well known so far Unconscious peoples They do not have immunity to normal external diseases such as flu or measles, which could completely erase them. “

She said it was disturbing that he could get to the island at all.
