9 possible destinations for Marcus Rashford in January

For Marcus Rashford, January could prove to be the month that defines the rest of his career.

The Manchester United winger has openly discussed his desire for a “new challenge” as he spends his life at Old Trafford and it looks increasingly likely that his wish will come true before the end of the winter window. A loan move looks more likely than a permanent sale as things stand.

Understandably, the 27-year-old has an extensive list of suitors. While his standards have dipped over the past 18 months, Rashford is on course for a 30-goal season in 2022/23, having notched more than 20 goals in two of the three previous seasons.

Prospective buyers are rediscovering that consistency and decadent quality away from the harsh glare of Manchester.

With that in mind, here are Rashford’s potential destinations – ranked, of course.

Reports have revealed that Rashford has already ruled it out Different approaches to the cash-rich Saudi Pro League. With his £300,000-per-week wages a prohibitive barrier to a permanent deal for most clubs, many sides in the Middle East will be able to match and increase that salary demand.

The fact that Rashford has ruled out a move suggests he won’t change his mind despite growing potential frustration in the January window. Witnessing the difficulties faced by his former international teammate Jordan Henderson may have been enough to upset him.

Man Utd’s No.10 may turn his nose up at the prospect of joining West Ham. With an underwhelming start to the season under Julen Lopetegui, Irons lacks the prestige of many of his other suitors.

however, West Ham are believed to be in the mix for RashfordIf they realize that they are unlikely to pursue the most persuasive. The arrival of new head coach Graham Potter may be a factor that plays into the Hammers’ hands, however, the fact that Rashford will not have to leave the comfort of English football.

Rashford will have seen how a loan move to West Ham helped former team-mate Jesse Lingard rediscover his lethal streak in 2021. Can he provide the same safe haven for her?

Line up on Marcus Rashford Barcelona?

You’d imagine the Catalan giants wouldn’t be able to mastermind such a move, as they can’t even register the players they’ve got due to constant financial mismanagement (Danny Olmo, Pau Victor, we’re looking at you, guys).

But rumblings from Spain are that Barca will go ‘all out’ for Rashford *check notes* This Estadi Olympique Louis Companies Stadium – Whether they even need him, given that they have Lamin Yamal and Rafinha on the wings, remains to be seen.

Surprise suitors to secure Rashford’s loan signature Italian side are Como, who were promoted to Serie A for the first time in 21 years prior to the current campaign. They are currently battling relegation under manager Cesc Fabregas, with an existence far from certain heading into the second half of the term.

Rashford will certainly be a big fish in Lombardy’s small pond, especially after his former team-mate Rafael Varane retired in September after joining Como in the summer. It will offer guaranteed play time and low expectations.

However, performing at a high level in a weak side is its own challenge. Como average just over a goal per game in Serie A and Rashford will face unique pressure to lead them to safety.

Man Utd Rashford is unlikely to be loaned out to a direct rival – they may well have learned their lesson after sending Jadon Sancho to Chelsea, where the winger is now thriving – but the Red Devils and Tottenham are not hotly contested.

Spurs are looking for reinforcements this winter, including Rashford Which is being considered. Tottenham are keen to strengthen their forward line – even if their defense is in more desperate need of fresh blood – and Ange Postecoglou would be an attractive coach for most attacking players.

Rashford, who has scored six in 17 meetings with Spurs, will be offered plenty of attacking freedom in north London, although he will face strong competition from Son Heung-min for his preferred left-back starting berth.

Khvicha Kwaratsakhelia

Rashford may have heard Antonio Conte’s horror stories from friends and teammates, but he could get the chance to experience the brutal Italian first-hand for the rest of the campaign. Napoli, who were taken to the summit of Serie A under the former Chelsea and Spurs boss, are looking for his signature.

Their interest in Rashford could hinge on the fate of Georgian superstar Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. What is interesting is Man Utd and a host of other European clubs. Napoli are open to finally selling the elusive winger and Rashford could conceivably be used as a bargaining chip in a deal with the Red Devils.

However, the fear of playing under such a defensive minded coach could prove to be the deciding factor in Rashford agreeing to any such switch.

Juventus’ lack of experience in the wider attacking areas has proved to be an issue for Thiago Motta during his first campaign in Turin. The Old Lady is stoic defensively this term but lacks flair, consistency and spark at the other end of the pitch.

Naturally, they want to solve that particular problem in January. With Rashford among his goals. Juve’s current forward options fail to inspire, with star striker Dusan Vlahovic also struggling to fully convince the Allianz Stadium.

Juve certainly don’t lack the reputation to want Rashford away from Old Trafford and he would be an immediate first choice for the Bianconeri.

Such stories could be an inspiration for Rashford, who will work under exciting youth coach Nuri Sahin. Sancho rebuilt his reputation with the Bundesliga giants last season and reached this point. Champions League The finale, allowed him to make his way to West London last summer.

Dortmund, a club that prioritizes attacking intent and boasts one of the best fans in football, just needs shelter on Rashford’s return to the elite level. That Bundesliga higher lines will be in trouble.

Rashford’s representatives have reportedly discussed a potential move with Milan after traveling to Italy, possibly including an option to buy based on wage demands.

Rashford will meet many familiar faces in Milan as English trio Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori all represent the Rossoneri. It will definitely help in the settlement process.

There will be stiff competition for the left-back spot with Rafael Leo, but joining the seven-time European champions could prove too good an offer to turn down.
