Boxing Results: “Thunder” Dalton Smith stops Waleed Uiza


WBC super lightweight silver medalist Dalton “Thunder” Dalton Smith scored two knockouts to defeat Waleed Uiza in the first round at Nottingham Arena in Nottinghamshire, England on Saturday night (Walid Ouizza) for the vacant EBU super lightweight title.

In the main event, Smith defeated Uiza 17-0 (13) at the end of the first round of the scheduled 12-round fight to win 19-3 (8).

In the final minute of the first round, Smith knocked Uiza to the jaw with a left fist and referee Jon Llona Fernandez counted eight. Uiza got to his feet and was met with a flurry of punches from Smith, who was knocked down again and referee Fernandez wisely waved off.

British, Commonwealth and IBF EBU welterweight champion Harry “Horrible” Scarff, 13-4 (3), was defeated by Kang at 1:23 of the eleventh round. Conah “Wolf” Walker, defeated 15-3-1(6). Booked for 12 rounds.

Scarfe switched to a southpaw a minute into the first round, mainly jab and round. At the end of the third round, Scarfe tapped Walker on the chin and received a warning from referee Michael Alexander.

In the third round, both fighters suffered nosebleeds. Arce kept pushing forward as the southpaw Suleiman countered with jabs. In the sixth round, Arce came out low and was hit in the chin by Suleiman’s uppercut.

In the final seconds of the seventh round, Suleiman landed a combination of punches that knocked Arce off balance. In the final 40 seconds of the eighth and final round, Suleiman took the lead on the chin, catching Arce’s attention.

Flyweight Hamza Uddin (4-0 (1)) defeated Misael Ezequiel Graffioli (5-4) by eight-round points decision.

Referee Peter McCormack voted 80 to 72.

Lightweight Traie Duberry, 5-0 (2), defeated southpaw Camilo ‘Canturion’ Castagno, 4-9 (1), judged based on 6 rounds of points. Referee Peter McCormack voted 59 to 53
