Canelo Alvarez met with Turki Alsheikh today and said a fight between him and Terrence Crawford is “possible”. He said he was always looking to get the “best deal” possible.
Turki hopes to set up a fight between Alvarez (62-2-2, 39 KOs) and Crawford in 2025 as it is one of the biggest fights possible in North America this year. It remains to be seen whether he’ll be available for this fight.
Canelo seeks ‘best deal’
Crawford, 37, has yet to reveal what he will do if he is unable to fight Canelo. We know Terrence’s age and at 154 years old fighting a younger, stronger, bigger fighter will ultimately lead to his defeat. On August 3 last year, he nearly lost his last fight against WBA junior middleweight champion Israel Madrimov at 154.
“There’s always a chance there. We’ll see, but there’s always a chance here to get the best deal and there’s always a chance,” Canelo Alvarez said. ring magazine When asked if a fight between him and Terrence Crawford is possible next.
“I think it’s going to be another good fight. Both fighters are good fighters. So, I think both guys have a chance to win,” Canelo said on Feb. 22 against light heavyweight champion Arthur Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol said during the rematch in Riyadh.
Former division world champion Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) hopes to challenge Canelo for the unified super middleweight title this year. He believes he has the ability to overcome his size disadvantage. Crawford believes he has enough size and skill to beat Canelo.
The Mexican star has shown signs of slowing down in his last two games against Edgar Berlanga and Jaime Munguia. Canelo had the potential to knock out these fighters in 2021 and earlier, but he was forced to beat them via 12-round decisions.
