Chad says an attempt to break into the presidential palace has been foiled, 20 dead




Two dozen armed men tried to storm the presidential palace in Chad, but 18 attackers and two soldiers were killed in the botched attack, the state prosecutor said Thursday. Heavy gunfire erupted on Wednesday near the presidential compound shortly before 8:00 p.m. local time (19:00 GMT) in the center of N’Djamena, the capital of the military-ruled central African state.
