Colombia is turning to Venezuela for help as tens of thousands have been displaced by guerrilla violence




With 80 killed and 40,000 displaced in violence sparked by the leftist National Liberation Army (ELN) militia fighting rival armed groups over drug-trafficking territory in northeastern Colombia, the Latin American country’s president, Gustavo Petro, addressed Venezuela on Thursday to propose a “joint plan to eradicate the armed gangs on the border.”
