The famous Haunted Mansion Holiday inspired by by Tim Burton The Nightmare Before Christmas back in August, as usual—not November, as erroneously reported after incorrect dates were published on the Disneyland site.
The mistake briefly fueled fan excitement that the attraction’s Christmas movie overlay will arrive on November 14, a later-than-usual date closer to the holiday in the center of Nightmare Before Christmas.
In a statement to io9, Disney experiences shared: “We look forward to welcoming the Haunted Mansion Holiday back for Halloween Time on August 22. The incorrect dates published on the website this morning have been updated. “
For those who have no idea what we’re talking about, for the better part of two decades, the beloved classic horror attraction hijacked by Jack Skellington as Sandy Claws, bringing the Christmas spirit to the start of the Halloween season. It doesn’t really make sense because Nightmare Before Christmas a Christmas movie; the events of Jack appropriating Christmas take place after Halloween and lead at Christmas—and because the Haunted Mansion is a ghost house.
That means fans who want to visit the Haunted Mansion in its regular form as part of their Disneyland Halloween festivities are out of luck. If you want to experience the Haunted Mansion during Halloween, you should go to Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Florida variant.
