We are at least four months from a Nintendo Switch 2 official releasebut peripheral makers beat Nintendo to the punch. Judging by the latest trailer, Nintendo’s next-gen dockable handheld likely to feature a new Mario Kart game, and a creator wants you to drive in style with your JoyCons.
On Friday, Nintendo Life first hit by the accessory maker Early Nacon peripherals. It includes a steering wheel with ports for the new JoyCons. The €29.90, or approximately $30 steering wheel uses suction cups that attach to your table or desk when you take turns in a yet-to-be-announced mascot-themed cart racer. It has two modes, one upright and one flat, a unique feature that you don’t usually get on many similar handlebars. However, this isn’t something we haven’t seen before on the original Switch, which also included motion controls on its JoyCons.
Early renderings of the Switch 2 controllers don’t look like Nintendo’s recently revealed device, especially the joysticks, which lack a large overlapping bezel. This is likely another device designed around the specs sent to peripheral makers before Nintendo announced the next Switch. Nacon also has some embedded silicon JoyCon covers, some external Switch 2 covers, and a carrying case.
Nacon’s peripherals have prompted fans to suspect that a sequel to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is finally due. Although footage of the game appeared for a few seconds in the Switch 2 reveal trailer, fans have already seen up to 24 racers on the track at once. Fans also noticed that Donkey Kong’s character model similar to his appearance in Super Mario Bros. Movie rather than in almost 8 years of kart racing game.
Thanks to their own leak, we know Dbrand, Genki, and probably many other small brands are planning to share their own accessories with the Switch 2. DBrand’s Killswitch case includes a cover and an additional kickstand to go with the Switch 2’s U-shaped stand.
Genki’s original images seem particularly interesting, considering that they reveal early mockups of the new JoyCons, which are almost identical to the ones Nintendo revealed on January 16, down to the blue and red accents around the joysticks. Genki also shares a charging dock big enough to fit two pairs.

Switch 2 Leakers Take Flak From Devs
We already know a lot of third-party cases thanks to the obscene amount of early teasing device leaks. However, we don’t have anything that suggests new capabilities for the Switch 2 JoyCons or the console itself. Based on Nintendo’s video, we can only assume that the controllers can act like a mouse when sliding across a table. We also want to know if the Switch 2 dock adds any graphical capabilities to the handheld. Rumors and leaks suggest the Switch 2 can support 4K resolution to land.
The unknown continues to drive the collective wild, not a poorly thought out idea that these brands have destroyed the “surprise.” Last Friday, the original Bayonetta director and now helming the upcoming Okami sequel, Hideki Kamiya, wrote on Twitter how much he despises leakers. According to a machine-translated post, he said, “I hope everyone who leaked information on the Switch 2 is cursed for the rest of their lives with poo on the soles of their shoes when they go home.”
He continued, “…Now that I’m enjoying Okami’s surprise announcement to all users, I really believe that… all the damn leakers should be cursed… isn’t he contributing to anyone’s well-being, suffering he has all kinds of opportunity losses, and has done nothing to be proud of in front of others.
Former Nintendo PR manager Krysta Yang echoed a very similar sentiment to him YouTube channel along with fellow former Nintendo staffer Kit Ellis. He said he’s “100% sure” that Nintendo is “very upset… very, very, very upset” about the leaks, saying that Nintendo will have a harder time surprising fans. Ellis said Nintendo’s regular processes to control the spread of information “didn’t work,” and the leaks “were made worse by (nintendo’s) thinking they could control everything.”
Nintendo has been working on the Switch 2 for years and has only offered the tiniest bits of information at the time. The company’s corporate accounts must finally confirming the existence of the console for investors, not fans. Nintendo’s own closed-mouth attitude has created this spat for anyone who doesn’t know directly. If someone needs to scrape the poop off their shoes, Nintendo needs to look at its own soles first.
