Ferdinand Marcos’ daughter banned from drinking after drunken brawl on plane

The daughter of late Philippine dictator Ferdinand Marcos and her husband have been banned from drinking on planes and at airports after they got into a drunken brawl with another passenger on a Jetstar flight.

Australian police said Analisa Josefa Corr and James Alexander Corr were drunk on a flight from Hobart to Sydney on December 29. “Disorderly conduct” caused a “disturbance.”

Police said Ms Cole is accused of “grabbing and shaking another passenger as she exited the aircraft toilet”. The two were escorted off the plane.

They pleaded not guilty to charges of failing to comply with safety instructions and drinking alcohol not provided by the crew, but agreed on Friday to abstain from alcohol while on bail.

If convicted, they could be fined up to A$13,750 ($8,520; £6,925) per charge.

Ms Cole also denies a charge of assaulting another passenger on the plane, which carries a maximum penalty of two years in prison.

They are also required to pay $20,000 each, which will be forfeited if any bail conditions are breached.

Ms Cole, 53, is the Australian-raised daughter of Mr Marcos, the former Sydney model Evelin Hegyesi, making her a half-brother of current President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. younger sister.

Ms Cole describes herself on Instagram as an interior designer.

Mr Cole, 45, is a former soldier, Australian media reported.

In a statement about the case, police urged travelers to “be careful how you behave at the airport.”

“You don’t want to start the new year with a hefty fine or worse, jail time,” Australian Federal Police Sergeant Luke Stockwell said.

He added: “AFP is increasing patrols at all major airports over the holidays and will not tolerate dangerous, disruptive or abusive behavior by travellers.”

Jetstar did not comment directly on the incident, but a spokesman said the airline “will never tolerate disruptive behavior on our aircraft”.

“The safety and well-being of our customers and crew is our top priority,” he added.
